Calix Chief Sustainability Officer Martha Galley: ‘I have no interest in spending US$100k to create a PDF that is out of date the minute it is published’

Martha Galley, Chief Sustainability Officer at NYSE-listed cloud and broadband services firm Calix, takes a pragmatic approach to her role – and believes it is time to change the way we communicate about sustainability.
Galley spent five years as Calix’ Chief Customer Success Officer before taking on the CSO role, and comes from a commercial background at Microsoft and Salesforce. This shows in the way she talks about the firm’s sustainability strategy: “One of our major goals is making sure that we're responsive to our customers when they ask us, where we are and what we are doing relative to sustainability – and quite frankly, using our strategy, which is totally integrated, we call it ‘sustainable by design’, as a competitive advantage.”
