Climate TRACE Q1 data suggests global emissions are finally declining in 2026

Climate TRACE’s latest data suggests global greenhouse gas emissions may have peaked in 2025, with a slight decline observed in the first quarter of this year.

Total global emissions in the first three months of 2026 totalled 15.2 billion tonnes of CO2 equivalent – 0.1% lower than the same period in 2025.
