Around 150 companies and investors across Europe have penned an open letter defending the importance of the EU’s emissions trading system (ETS) as calls to review it in the name of competitiveness grow louder.

The firms – including EDF, Holcim, IKEA, Mirova, Nordea Asset Management, SAP and Unilever – agree with the findings of last year’s Draghi report on the need to increase competitiveness in the EU, but believe targeting the EU ETS for this purpose is a “serious misdiagnosis”.
