Carbon taxes and emissions trading scheme (ETS) revenue reached US$107 billion in 2025 – having tripled over the last decade.

There are now 87 mandatory carbon pricing policies globally, seven more than in 2024. Together, these cover just over 29% of global emissions, according to the latest State and Trends of Carbon Pricing report by the World Bank Group.
