Menzies Aviation names Head of ESG
Airport and airline service partner Menzies Aviation has named Jonathan Hankin as its new Head of ESG, replacing Katy Reid.
Hankin is a qualified mechanical engineer with training in safety and environmental management and more than 20 years of aviation experience, including 12 years in the Royal Air Force. He joined Menzies Aviation in 2017 and was most recently Vice President GSE Safety and Sustainability.
In that role, he played a key role in advancing Menzies’ transition to electric and low-emission ground support equipment (GSE) and helped develop safer, cleaner, and more efficient operational practices across the company’s global network.
As Head of ESG, Hankin will oversee the continued evolution of Menzies’ sustainability strategy, including delivering progress on the firm’s target to achieve net zero emissions across all scopes by 2045. He will also oversee commitments on diversity, equity and inclusion, and ensure responsible sourcing and ethical supply chain practices.
Katy Reid departs
Hankin replaces Katy Reid, who was Menzies’ Head of Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility from 2021 and had been at the firm for 18 years. Reid will be taking on a new sustainability leadership role in a different company in the new year.
Announcing her departure on Linkedin, she said: “From leading the Programme Management Office at Menzies Distribution, to serving as Group Compliance Manager when we were John Menzies plc, and most recently as Head of Sustainability & Corporate Responsibility with Menzies Aviation, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some of the most talented and passionate people in the industry.
“One of my proudest and most rewarding achievements has been setting up and leading the award-winning All In Sustainability Plan, embedding sustainability into the heart of our business and setting Menzies on course for a strong, responsible future.”
John Geddes, Chief Governance and Sustainability Officer and Company Secretary at Menzies, commented: “Our All In strategy remains central to how we operate and grow. Since joining us, Jonathan has shown strong leadership in improving the safety, efficiency and sustainability of our operations, notably through modernising and decarbonising our GSE fleet.
“Thank you to Katy Reid, whose work in shaping our ESG agenda and establishing the All In framework has given us a clear and solid foundation. Jonathan will now build on that progress as we continue driving meaningful, long-term improvements across our global business.”
