New circularity benchmarking data reveals progress gap for key UK and European retailers

New benchmarking data has revealed that retail leaders have strong intent to embrace circular returns, but a gap still remains between purpose and real world performance.

The Circularity Index benchmarked 150 senior leaders at retailers in the UK and Europe on the maturity of their circular returns operations. Of those surveyed, 53% reached an ‘Advanced’ circularity score overall, and 28% achieved ‘Leading’ status. Some 19% of retailers were found to be ‘Emerging’. The findings show that while 86% of retailers have an established approach to circularity in returns, converting it into measurable results were much rarer.
