Australian mining company Fortescue is accelerating the timeline of its green energy grid development to eliminate fossil fuels use in its operations by 2028.

In the decision announced this week, the company said it is particularly targeting diesel elimination, “a fuel that is 100% imported and subject to extreme price volatility, unreliability and hardship – that also costs the taxpayer billions in subsidies”.
