Battery storage driving unprecedented energy innovation: IEA
Batteries accounted for a whopping 40% of all energy patenting in 2023.
Energy made up 10% of all new patents worldwide last year – and this unprecedented wave of innovation is driven largely by battery storage technologies, according to an IEA report published today.
The International Energy Agency states that the world’s innovation landscape is now largely shaped by energy security in its latest State of Energy Innovation report, with more than 150 technology breakthroughs identified in the last year.
