Estimated 70% increase in biofuel demand could affect food prices by 2030

Global biofuel demand is set to grow by nearly 70% by the end of the decade as the world attempts to reduce emissions and combat high oil prices – but this will not be without consequences for the food system.
This is according to Transport & Environment’s (T&E) latest research, which warns governments “not to trade a fuel crisis for a food crisis”.
