EU targets 46% electrification by 2040 as part of Electrification Action Plan
The Commission has also unveiled its review of the EU ETS.
The European Commission has unveiled its Electrification Action Plan, which includes a goal to electrify 46% of the bloc’s energy demand by 2040.
This would be a doubling of current electrification levels, which have stagnated at 23% over the last decade. Reaching this goal would cut the EU's fossil fuel import bill by €260 billion per year by 2040.
