Renewables made up record 52.5% of UK electricity generation in 2025
The milestone was led by another record year for wind, which generated 87.1 TWh – up 4% year on year.
Record renewable output helped the UK tip its power mix firmly towards clean energy last year, according to government statistics.
Renewable electricity generation in the UK climbed to a new high in 2025, with output from green technologies rising 6% to a record 152.5 TWh and supplying an unprecedented 52.5% of total power generation, the government said in its latest annual energy trends report.
