The UK’s energy transition remains off track by 12% despite the country having cut emissions in half since 1990 and successfully phased out coal, according to new research by Wood MacKenzie.

The consultancy warns that nearly all of the UK’s 2030 targets are now “unattainable”, and that to close the gap, the UK would need to invest an additional £75 billion this decade.
