An analysis of the cost impact of a zero-emissions mandate for truck sales in the UK found that such a regulation would reduce inflation and transportation costs by 2040.

The UK government is currently considering policy options to phase out the sale of new diesel trucks by 2040, including mechanisms such as a CO2 standard, a mandate on the percentage of new zero-emissions vehicles sold by truck manufacturers, and/or a mandate for large fleet operators to increase the proportion zero-emissions heavy goods vehicles (HVGs) in their fleets.
