Europe’s aviation emissions surpassed pre-COVID levels for the first time in 2025, driven by low-cost airlines – Ryanair’s global emissions are now 50% higher than in 2019.
Flights departing from Europe’s airports emitted 195 million tonnes of CO2 last year – 2% more than before the pandemic – according to the latest analysis by Transport & Environment.
