Manchester venue Co-op Live has shared impact data from four Billie Eilish concerts held in July 2025, where the audience was offered a 100% plant-based menu.

Switching 66 menu items to plant-based alternatives led to 47% reduction in food-related emissions compared to typical shows – the equivalent of 45 flights from Manchester to Dublin. Offering plant-based alternatives for fan favourites such as burgers was shown to have the largest impact, reducing emissions by 65%.

In addition, the 100% plant-based menu helped save no less than 3.5 million litres of water over the four Manchester dates.

“Going 100% plant-based for Billie Eilish for all four nights of her shows at Co-op Live was an exciting undertaking for the venue. It enabled us to explore new ways to service concessions, and the take-up demonstrated it was a big hit with her fan base,” said Guy Dunstan, General Manager of Co-op Live.

Venue shares other benefits of plant-based menu

Not only did adopting a 100% plant-based menu help reduce the environmental impact of the shows – it also simplified operations at the venue. Co-op Live offered 30% fewer menu items than at traditional events, allowing for more simple kitchen operations, lower food safety risk, and reduced waste.

And yet, the menu resulted in the same levels of sales as traditional food offerings, with increased sales of fan favourites: 34% more for burgers and 27% more for hot dogs, suggesting fans appreciate having a plant-based option for these.

According to Co-op Live, the average plant-based show had a 13% increase in fan-favourite sales while reducing emissions by 65% for these items,

The venue piloted a 100% plant-based offering for the first time in June 2025 for a Massive Attack concert.
