Senior sustainability recruitment H1 2026: The rise of the 'CSO+'
The pace of hiring is stable, but responsibilities and reporting lines are shifting.
The market for senior sustainability leaders has remained remarkably resilient in the first half of 2026 – but the role itself is undergoing significant transformations.
Analysis by CSO Futures found that 57 organisations appointed a Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) or equivalent senior sustainability leader during the first six months of the year, compared with 54 during the same period in 2025.
