Supply chain firm Unipart names Chief Sustainability Officer
Unipart, a supply chain technology and consultancy firm based in the UK, has named Andy Pyne as its Chief Sustainability Officer.
He has worked at the British multinational for more than 25 years, across a number of leadership roles – most recently as a senior operations director with a sustainability focus. In this role, he spearheaded Unipart’s validation of near-term and net-zero targets by the Science Based Targets initiative.
As Chief Sustainability Officer and member of the executive leadership team, he reports directly to CEO Darren Leigh and is responsible for setting and delivering Unipart’s sustainability, facilities, security and health and safety strategies.
Unipart science-based targets
Unipart has a goal of achieving net zero emissions across its value chain by 2040. In the near term, the group plans to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90% by 2030, from a 2021 base year, and to have 75% of suppliers and customers by emissions adopt science-based targets by 2027.
As of 2022, the company has reduced emissions by 23%, including 3,781 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent in Scope 1 and 2, and 137,175 tonnes in Scope 3.
“Unipart has made a commitment to be net zero by 2040 which will require increased leadership and focus, therefore I’m delighted to appoint Andy Pyne as full-time Chief Sustainability Officer. Andy will work across all areas of Unipart delivering synergies, economies of scale and efficiencies,” said Darren Leigh, Unipart Chief Executive Officer.
“Andy is passionate about the business and Unipart’s people, and creating a culture where everyone can give their best, serving our customers better than anyone else and committing to the safety and wellbeing of all colleagues and protection of the planet for them and all Unipart’s stakeholders.”
